Why did you choose to become a client service associate?
Growing up raised by a single mother, money was never a popular topic. As I got older and went to community college, I got interested in investing and figuring out ways to manage my money. I remember buying my first stock and I was addicted to watching my money tick upwards (…but not so much downwards).
My professional background has also revolved around Financial Services and Operations, and I always enjoyed being able to help people. I was previously a Mortgage Underwriter specializing in Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) loans. When I was presented with the opportunity to work as a Client Service Associate for MFA, I knew this would be a career path that would allow me to build upon my operational strengths and line up with my personal interests of managing wealth.
What’s a memory from your client interactions that’s stayed with you?
At our most recent Client Appreciation Event, it was my second time attending and this year we rented out casino table games for entertainment. I was at the roulette table testing my go-to numbers and playing alongside clients. Sure enough, I hit my lucky number Black 8 two times! Everyone at the table was in disbelief and thought I was in cahoots with the dealer (turns out, lady luck was just on my side that night).
While I was happily receiving my roulette “winnings”, what made the night really special was my manager walking up to me and telling me that a pair of clients wanted to speak with me. They even requested me by name! I was surprised since my role in operations does not normally put me face to face with our clients, but it was heartwarming to see and hear that they still felt taken care of despite communicating with me over email only.
What’s something people might not know about you?
At the beginning of this year, my friends got me into the hobby of Magic: The Gathering. It is the first trading card game ever and officially released in August 1993. My introduction to the hobby was me just watching my friends play and trying to understand the game. Then we started hanging out weekly and dedicated every Thursday to play the game with each other. It’s even reconnected me with some older friends I haven’t hung out with since high school (over 10 years ago). As of recent, I’ve dived into the collecting world of the hobby and got my hands on a few near mint cards that were printed way back in 1994, before I was even born.
Why are you excited to be part of MFA?
I am excited to be part of MFA because of the culture that I have experienced since day one. The company genuinely puts clients’ interests first, and that level of care even extends to the team members of the firm, in and out of the office. I am grateful to be part of a team that cultivates a workplace environment where everyone enjoys working with each other and towards the same goal of offering top-tier experience to our clients.
